Free informational/planning meeting
Monday, March 7, 6:30 pm on Zoom
We’ll go through how the process works (more info below), talk briefly about each person’s project, and plan a series of Book Birthing classes to fit the needs of those who want to take the next step.
How does a Book Birthing Class work?
Book Birthing Classes are a means of gaining valuable perspective if you have been writing and holding the vision of a book, but can’t quite see how to pull it all together into a cohesive manuscript. Lindy Gifford is a creative coach and publishing consultant, who helps people shape their writing into a book and eventually can also help them to publish it, if that is their goal. She often works one-on-one with clients, but this Book Birthing Classes are an opportunity not only to benefit from her expertise, but also from the perspective of other group members, as like-minded potential readers, and from the larger wisdom of the group itself.
This is not a writing class, per se, though some general, constructive, writing criticism may be offered. Primarily we will offer support shaping and structuring your writing into a book. Each participant will have one session devoted to offering and receiving reflections on their project and group members will benefit as much from witnessing and reflecting on others’ process as from offering their own. Each writer will be able to take the clearer direction and structure gained from the class and move their writing closer to the goal of a finished book manuscript. Group members will be better able to continue work on their manuscript on their own, or if there is interest, we can follow up with another series of meetings to fit the needs of the group.
Designed for four participants. $200/participant for six sessions, in advance. Attendance at each session is expected for consistency, barring unforeseen circumstances.
